Herts 1st team report 2016-17

Royston finished fourth this year, exactly in mid-table. But that was not how the season felt. We were in contention for top spot for most of it and only finished two points behind the winners, after falling away at the end of the season. Highlight of the year was Kevin beating Evgeny Tukpetov, who was graded 229. Team performance of the year came in the same fixture when we beat Hemel Hempstead away, despite being heavily out-graded.

1st team report 2013/14

In a topsy -turvy season, the 1st team finished half-way up division 1 of the Herts League. After an average start, we were due to play current champions Watford1 twice, defeat would mean going bottom of the league. But we won both matches, and had aspirations of catching them for the league title. But then we could only draw at home to their 2nd team, and 2 defeats to Hemel Hempstead consigned us to a midway finish.

This season appears to be very competitive, with no obvious favourite, whilst Watford2, the promoted team, are also quite strong despite the handicap of their club's top 5 players being ineligible.

Our season started with a comfortable 4-1 home win over Bishop's Stortford1, a team we beat heavily thrice last season. Liam, in his first match for the Club, had a very good win, followed by Richard & Ashley, with draws for Kevin & Peter.
